About Dr. Williamson
My specializations include:
◊ Reducing anxiety and depression, anger,
fear and panic
◊ Recovering from trauma
(physical, emotional and
sexual)
◊ Removing the damage from negative
childhood experiences and messages;
and helping people build self-confidence
and self-esteem.
◊ Helping couples restore and improve trust, love and a warm, loving relationship.
I use my life and business coaching skills to assist people to define and re-define their life and business situations and goals, and take steps to achieve those goals.
In addition to my own counseling practice, I supervise new counselors at Boulder’s Access Counseling and in my private practice, having now supervised over 50 interns and counselors. This opportunity has helped me gain added experience through the many cases handled by the supervisees. It also constantly motivates me to read and study new developments in counseling research and theory, including new approaches to working with the mind-body connection, understanding how the brain effects emotional and physical health, and how to treat trauma. I have had the satisfaction of helping hundreds of clients to improve the way they handle and enjoy their lives and relationships.
I have received extensive training in EMDR, substance abuse counseling, grief and loss, and life planning. My therapeutic approach depends on the needs of the client, and I am proficient in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), somatic approaches, and Insight-oriented techniques. I am a certified EMDR therapist, and assist in teaching EMDR. My clients have confirmed that I work compassionately, gently and effectively.
I can provide counseling in Spanish to clients preferring that language.
